1.1. My Son Sanctuary - Cham Hindu Temple Complex
The Chams or Cham people used to rule over Central Vietnam independently from 192 AD to early 1500s and get Hinduism as their national religion.
A Cham king would love to make himself the incarnation of a Hindu god to legalize his utmost right. To do so, building a Hindu temple was the best.
And thanks to its great location, My Son was chosen as a religious center and was mentioned as "the valley of the Gods" in ancient inscriptions.
1.2. Hoi An Ancient Town - A major Asian trading port
From the 2nd AD to 14th centuries, Hoi An played a key role for foreign exchange of Champa kingdom all over south Asia.
During the next 5 centuries, Hoi An was the trading hub of Vietnamese kingdom to north east Asia, notably Japan and China.
